are better than single monitor sometimes. You can use 2 monitors in
Windows XP, Windows Vista as well as Windows 7. And in Windows 7, this
procedure to setup dual monitors is very easy. Microsoft has provided 3 good features for those who use dual monitors.
Those features are:
Check your ports. You will need two video out connections on the back of your computer, one for each monitor. There are 3 main types of connections, listed from oldest to newest: VGA, DVI, and HDMI. For best results, use two of the same connectors for your dual monitor setup
You can press Windows Logo Key + P in order to setup dual monitors. Here you will get all the above said three options as well as the default “Computer Only” option.
Method 2: By the “Screen Resolution: Method:
1: Right click on any empty area of the desktop and select Screen Resolution
2: Now click on the “Multiple displays” drop-down list, and click on Extend these displays, or Duplicate these displays.

- Mirroring duplicates what is shown on your primary monitor. This is most useful for giving presentations, where your laptop may be connected to a projector or TV.
- Extending makes the second monitor another screen for your desktop. This will allow you to drag windows and icons onto the second monitor, giving you more room to multitask.
- 4Setup the monitor manually. If the monitor wizard does not automatically start, or you want to change the settings yourself, you can use the Display Settings tool.
- Right-click the desktop, and select Properties or Personalize. Select Display Settings from the list of preferences.
- You should see icons with numbers representing your attached monitors. If one is disabled, it will be grayed out.
- Select the second monitor and choose to either extend your desktop or mirror your desktop.
- Your options may be dependent on the graphics card that you have installed. You may need to make these changes from within your nVidia or ATI control panels. If you have these installed, they can be found in your Start menu.
- Users can duplicate the same content viewable point in both monitors. In this feature, users can drag
- any content to the second monitor and vice
versa.
- Users can extend the visibility to other monitor- open 1 program in one monitor and other one in second monitor.
- User can close first monitor and switch completely to the second one. This one is helpful for Laptop users as sometimes they don’t want to view anything from their Laptop screen and want to view on the much bigger sized external monitor.
